Several members of our Peer Support Team have spent the week with Dr. Metz from Code-4 Counseling, LLC. Dr. Garrido-Metz is conducting a 40 hour course preparing our members to assist their peers in times of need. They are covering topics like: suicide prevention, mental health, substance abuse, stress, stress management and critical debriefs.

Our Peer Support group is made up of officers and non-sworn staff within our agency to help our staff during crisis, both personal and professional. Our team receives ongoing training and supervision from a licensed clinical psychologist- Dr. Garrido-Metz.

Brighton police have made an arrest in a fatal crash which killed a pedestrian earlier this year. 62-year-old Michael Steven Maes, of Brighton, was crossing Bridge St. near 6th Ave. at about 7:30 p.m. on September 19, when he was struck and killed by a passing vehicle which failed to stop after hitting him. Following an extensive investigation into the collision, police have arrested 71-year-old Billy David Metcalf Sr., of Roggen, CO.

Metcalf has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Death, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
