Check out this video of July photos from Friends of Barr Lake member Carol Delynko! Cool interaction between an osprey and some pelicans! That was a very coveted fish!

These photos are from Barr Lake volunteer and Friends of Barr Lake member Carol Delynko: “This actually happened in July, but it’s taken me a while to get around to putting this together. I walked across the dam and sat down on the bench–I needed a rest before I headed back. As I sat there, I noticed an Osprey diving down into the water. I was caught off guard, so a lot of the photos are blurry. But it was quite interesting to watch as the Osprey struggled to get out of the water with its large catch. As it struggled, two Pelicans decided to follow–I would guess they were hoping it would drop the feast. Eventually, the Osprey managed to get airborne–up, up, and away!”

The forecast analyzes changes that have occurred in all economic sectors during the past year and looks at the opportunities and challenges that will shape population, employment, and the overall economy in the coming year. We can’t wait to bring what we learn back to our community!

City of Brighton City Manager Philip Rodriguez is pleased to announce the appointment of Ronald Lay to serve as Director of Finance. As Director, Lay will oversee accounting, budget implementation, procurement and contracts, revenue, and customer connections.

Prior to joining the City of Brighton, Lay worked as a managing consultant for Hawksley Consulting where he served as a project manager and client service manager for various water, wastewater, and stormwater projects while also managing the system development and quality assurance of a large database of utility financial data. Before that role, Lay served as the finance director of the Town of Firestone for six years. He has also served as a senior consultant for Brown and Caldwell Environmental Engineers, finance director for South Adams County Water/Sanitation District, an accountant for the City of Westminster and the City of Arvada, and a sales tax auditor for the City of Lakewood.

Lay received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Metropolitan State College of Denver and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
